Summer is slowly leaving the sets. One App that has proven to be very useful for me this summer is Vivid (Mac). In environments without shade with strong direct sunlight, you can utilize the HDR capability on your new M1 PRO/MAX MacBook and increase your screen's brightness by almost 100%. Helpful for producers as well as creatives on set, in the office, on a train ride, or on the beach.
Be aware of the reduced color accuracy this feature will bring. Even though I feel like the team behind Vivid did a great job matching colors at maximum brightness, I would only recommend using it to check for a basic look while doing color and contrast-relevant tasks. But to be fair when it comes to color and contrast accuracy you would be better off with hardware calibrated 10-bit+ external monitors anyway. 😉
